Your company will be exhibiting at Automate, what is it that makes this an important event for your company?

Automate is the largest trade show in North America that highlights automation, robotics and machine vision. The show highlights the technologies and applications that IDS Imaging excels in. As a leading machine vision camera manufacturer it is a must for us to attend to showcase our latest technologies and contributions to this vibrant and growing industry.

What makes your booth a must visit for Automate Attendees?

We will be exhibiting our latest and upcoming camera technologies including our newest Event based camera, an upcoming time of flight camera and our new streaming camera family. All of these new cameras and technologies are pushing the boundaries of what is possible in Automation and opening up new and exciting markets and applications for IDS and its customers.

Automate has many educational sessions, forums & Demo’s, is your company involved in any of them this year?

Unfortunately no, not this year. We had submitted to conduct a talk however we were put on a waiting list. As you can imagine with 100’s of manufacturers and suppliers attending, the A3 has a long list of people that would like to conduct sessions. Hopefully we clear the wait list and if not, we look forward to presenting next year!

When you get a chance to walk the exhibit hall floor yourself, what is it you will be most interested to see? Any educational sessions, pavilions etc. you plan on attending?

Every show that we attend, we always make a point for several of us to walk the show. We are constantly looking at new and future technologies, market trends, competitor offerings and market feedback on our products, how to improve them and what future technologies and features the market wants to see from us. We strive to constantly move forward with our products, service, strategy and participation in this exciting industry.

How is your companies services and products utilizing AI now to improve business?

Our company's products leverage AI to enhance business by making image processing more accessible and efficient. With the IDS NXT system, we prioritize usability, enabling even non-experts to achieve AI-driven image analysis results quickly. Our AI vision solutions streamline the entire workflow—from capturing and labeling training images to training neural networks with a single click—while utilizing cloud-based processing to eliminate the need for complex development environments.

Furthermore, our collaboration with Ambarella has resulted in a new class of intelligent industrial cameras, such as the IDS NXT malibu, which integrates on-camera AI, video compression, and streaming. This innovation allows real-time processing directly within the camera, increasing efficiency and performance. By combining consumer technology with industrial expertise, we provide AI-powered solutions tailored to a wide range of businesses, from startups to large corporations.

Give us your thoughts on what the future holds for manufacturers and automation.

The future of manufacturing and automation is set to be increasingly driven by AI and intelligent robotics. As smart factories evolve, machine vision will play a central role in enabling real-time quality control, predictive maintenance, and fully autonomous production lines.

For the machine vision industry, this means a shift toward more flexible, AI-powered solutions that can adapt to varying production needs without requiring extensive reprogramming. The demand for user-friendly, self-learning vision systems will grow, allowing manufacturers to implement AI-based inspection and automation with minimal expertise.

Additionally, edge AI and on-device processing - such as what we’ve introduced with IDS NXT Malibu - will reduce latency, improve efficiency, and enhance real-time decision-making. Ultimately, manufacturers that embrace AI-driven machine vision will gain a competitive edge through greater efficiency, higher product quality, and reduced waste. The industry must continue innovating to support this transition while ensuring AI remains accessible to companies of all sizes.

The piCOBOT Electric vacuum generator

The piCOBOT Electric vacuum generator

Fully electric, slim design and absence of air-tubing and cabling. The new piCOBOT® Electric heads towards another success for Piab's piCOBOT® program. A secondary effect of these achievements is the absence of entangling air tubing and cabling. It simplifies the installation, and as the new piCOBOT® Electric only needs a single connection on the cobot arm, the clean set-up allows a completely unrestricted movement. The new piCOBOT® Electric package will contain plug & play software to fit UR e-series cobots, but many other useful adaptations will be introduced in the coming year
