Lenze Posts Positive FY2013 Sales Growth
Lenze announces earnings at 'Race for the Future' Trade Press Event
UXBRIDGE, MA - JANUARY 16, 2014 - Lenze, a leading global manufacturer of electrical and mechanical drives, motion control and automation technology for Motion Centric Automation, announced its FY 2013 earnings at a company-hosted International Trade Press Event at the Lenze headquarters in Hamelin, Germany, October 10-11, 2013.
Lenze has a sales presence in 60 countries and employs almost 3,300 people worldwide. The company is one of the few suppliers in the market that supports the machine-builder through all phases of the machine-building process. In FY 2013 (March 1, 2012-April 30, 2013), Lenze worldwide sales grew by $14.7 million to $794.4 million.
"The market environment has been economically mixed, with uncertainty dominating many industries. Despite challenging economic times, Lenze was able to record an increase in sales," stated Dr. Erhard Tellbuscher, former CEO, Lenze. "The company's new product development and continued growth of its solution portfolio will help maintain a strong market position and stability over the long term."
The two-day press event titled 'Race for the Future-How Intelligence Enters the Machine' was well attended by media, in addition to executives, management and automation specialists from Lenze locations worldwide. Attendees were warmly welcomed at an opening reception, with introductions to the Lenze executive board, including Frank Maier, Dr. Yorck Schmidt and Dr. Thomas Cord, managing director, Lenze automation.
The company shared its FY 2013 earnings and highlights at an opening press conference, followed by a behind-the-scenes tour of the Lenze electronic factory and laboratory. An in-house exhibition highlighted new Lenze solutions and previewed products scheduled for 2014 release. Recent Lenze product launches include reusable software modules and the FAST application template that offer customers optimal standardization in the development of machine software. The ready-made modules enable users to program control software swiftly and easily. Another new product causing ripples in the market is the Lenze Smart Motor, which is designed for horizontal material-conveying machinery. Combining the simplicity of an AC motor with the technical benefits of an electronic control, the freely adjustable Lenze Smart Motor enables customers to reduce the number of variant drives by up to 70 percent. Convenient operation of the motor by means of RFID and a smart phone epitomize the Lenze 'easy to use' approach to drive technologies.
The Race for the Future conference agenda included informative sessions presented around the issues of intelligent software, drives, energy efficiency and systems networking. Topics included:
· Dynamics, mobility, networking - Towards the technical systems of tomorrow
· Transfer of machine functions to software
· Intelligent drive and control technology for more energy efficient machines
· Mechatronics - How intelligence enters the machine
· The changing role of the technology supplier in the development of smarter machines
In a more recent announcement, Lenze introduced Christian Wendler as the new CEO succeeding Dr. Tellbuscher who retired in December 2013. Wendler previously served as a member of the Lenze executive board and brings a proven track record of industry expertise and experience in international management.
"Efficient engineering has emerged as a key competitive factor for machine builders and systems across the globe. Lenze makes substantial contributions in this area," stated CEO Wendler. "We are committed to maintaining a high level of investment in product R&D and strategic global expansion to ensure a competitive edge in a demanding worldwide market."
