Industrial automation provider announces immediate availability of software update for its comprehensive all-in-one diagnostic tool

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - November 19, 2015 - Softing Inc., a leading industrial automation and electronics provider, has released a new software version for its industry-leading PROFIBUS Tester 5. Version V3.12 is a free download and includes improvements to the cable test function of the PROFIBUS Tester 5.

"The PROFIBUS Tester 5 is a finished solution that does not require any add-ons or additional network components to produce reliable results."

PROFIBUS Tester 5 is a powerful diagnostic and troubleshooting tool for testing the cables, measuring the signals and analyzing the communications of PROFIBUS networks. Specifically designed for mobile operations, its internal battery will power the tester for up to seven hours.

"I used the PROFIBUS Tester and it identified a problem at the PLC - the connector had a faulty termination switch," said Peter Kent, vice president of engineering at VitalSensors Technologies. "The signal quality indicator of the PROFIBUS Tester software reported bad signal quality at the location of the connector. The problem was corrected within minutes and our sensor had no further problems."
