Maplesoft and Instructure team up to allow easy integration of Canvas and Maple T.A.

Collaboration unites course management with STEM testing tools

Waterloo, Canada; 10 March 2016: Maplesoft today announced a Certified Partnership with Instructure, a leading software-as-a-service technology company and designer of the Canvas learning management system. Maple T.A., Maplesofts online testing and assessment platform designed especially for technical courses involving mathematics, can now be easily accessed from within the Canvas environment.

Maplesofts partnership with Instructure will allow instructors in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) courses to benefit from powerful testing and assessment tools in Maple T.A, including standard math notation, sophisticated plotting, free-response math questions, and intelligent grading of responses, all while remaining in the Canvas environment. The integration will provide a single platform for students to access assignments, regardless of which system they were created in, and a consolidated gradebook for instructors.
"At Instructure, we created the Canvas system to be as easy-to-use and efficient for instructors and students as possible," said Melissa Loble, VP of Partners & Programs at Instructure. "Our collaboration with Maplesoft is another great example of how we continue to make learning and teaching easier, by uniting class management and engagement with advanced testing and assessment."
"Instructors using Canvas, particularly those teaching STEM courses, will greatly benefit from Maplesofts partnership with Instructure, said Jonny Zivku, Product Manager, Online Education Products at Maplesoft. "Using an integrated platform for both course management and advanced STEM testing will reduce overhead and provide a seamless experience for instructors and students."
In addition to Canvas, Maple T.A. can be integrated with virtually any course management system including Blackboard®, Brightspaceâ„¢, Moodleâ„¢, and Sakai.

3D Vision: Ensenso B now also available as a mono version!

This compact 3D camera series combines a very short working distance, a large field of view and a high depth of field - perfect for bin picking applications. With its ability to capture multiple objects over a large area, it can help robots empty containers more efficiently. Now available from IDS Imaging Development Systems. In the color version of the Ensenso B, the stereo system is equipped with two RGB image sensors. This saves additional sensors and reduces installation space and hardware costs. Now, you can also choose your model to be equipped with two 5 MP mono sensors, achieving impressively high spatial precision. With enhanced sharpness and accuracy, you can tackle applications where absolute precision is essential. The great strength of the Ensenso B lies in the very precise detection of objects at close range. It offers a wide field of view and an impressively high depth of field. This means that the area in which an object is in focus is unusually large. At a distance of 30 centimetres between the camera and the object, the Z-accuracy is approx. 0.1 millimetres. The maximum working distance is 2 meters. This 3D camera series complies with protection class IP65/67 and is ideal for use in industrial environments.
