2019 Sensors Expo & Conference Wraps Up Annual Event With Largest Crowd in 34-Year History
Over 9,000 industry innovators, practitioners and exhibitors gathered together to share insights and showcase the cutting-edge advancements that will propel the industry forward
Sensors Expo & Conference (#Sensors19), the industry's premier event dedicated to sensors, connectivity, and IoT, today announced the annual event reached its largest scale in the show's storied 34-year history. Featuring three co-located events including the Autonomous Vehicle Sensors Conference, the Medical Sensors Design Conference, and the inaugural Embedded Technologies Expo & Conference, the event drew a 20 percent increase in attendees over the popular 2018 show, bringing together more than 9,000 to the industry's largest collective of sensor-focused technologies. Boasting a newly expanded Conference Program, participants had access to unrivaled interactive content, applications, demos, and hands-on components all designed to educate and inspire. The highly anticipated 2020 event will take place June 9-11th in San Jose, California. To stay up to date visit, http://www.sensorsexpo.com or join our email list.
Cutting Edge Content
During the event, innovators, thought leaders, practitioners, executives, and academics had access to more than 65 conference sessions covering the hottest topics from AI and machine learning, to IoT and wireless. Keynote presentations from Allison Barto, a well-regarded astronomical instrumentation engineer from Ball Aerospace and fellow of the International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE), and Gerardo Giaretta, Head of Industry 4.0 at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., highlighted the wide range of sensors-based applications and industry potential. In addition, attendees had the opportunity to participate in five new Pre-Conference Symposia which took an even closer look at the hottest sensor-based topics including MEMS, IoT, Wearables, Energy Harvesting & Power, as well as IoT systems and Industry 4.0 applications.
"I enjoyed learning about emerging technology in the sensors industry. Every opportunity you can get to learn about the future gives you an edge to apply new sensors and automation to your job — along with what limitations there may be," noted conference attendee Eric Szczerbaty, Mechanical Engineer, at Lockheed Martin Space.
Innovative Applications on Display
Widely regarded as North America's largest showcase of sensing technologies on the market today with over 400 exhibitors, Sensors Expo consistently brings together the industry's most notable brands and hottest startups to demonstrate the unlimited potential of sensor technologies and sensor-related applications. For the 2019 event, year-over-year exhibitor participation rose by 10% and new exhibitor participation by nearly 20%. Those demonstrating applications on-site were recognized by the newly revamped Best of Sensors Awards, designed to spotlight the advances in both innovations and real-world applications of sensors.
"The exposition was bigger than I expected, and I am so pleased with the valuable information I have collected from interacting with the exhibitors," commented P. Dauguet, Production and Service Manager with Comet Technologies.
Co-Located Events Spur Growth
By hosting the industry's largest collective of sensor-focused events with three co-located shows featuring automotive, embedded systems, and medical design innovations, Sensors Expo continues its tradition as the premier venue for the burgeoning sensors industry. The Autonomous Vehicle Sensors Conference featured in-depth technical sessions and interactive panels curated for attendees to discover who will become the central players, where the adoption of AV will start, and which "sense" technology will make the biggest impact. The Medical Sensors Design Conference offered unique educational and networking opportunities to drive sensor development and foster innovation in specific medical and healthcare applications.
The inaugural Embedded Technologies Expo & Conference boasted three full days of sessions, pre-conference workshops, and interactive training workshops. From AI and Machine Learning for Industrial Applications, to Vision and Imaging, Security and Power Solutions, the new event provided attendees with exclusive access to innovations and experts that can address real-world challenges with embedded sensors.
2019 Event Features
Some of the most popular 2019 show features included:
Hands-on workshops from STMicroelectronics, Bluetooth SIG, Microchip, Trusted Computing Group, Brewer Science and others;
The fourth annual Women in Sensors Engineering (WISE) Program featuring speakers from Facebook, Intel, and Shell Oil;
Expo Theaters which offered insight from leading exhibitors across some of the hottest sensor topics and application areas including automotive, medical, and IoT right from the show floor;
Presented by Randstad, Career Connection gave attendees, employers, exhibitors and recruiters the chance to connect, build relationships and network for career advancement opportunities.
