Rotary Encoder – Best Mechanical Device to Measure Pulses
Encoder is a device that compiles and converts a signal or data into a signal that can be used for communication, transmission, and storage. It is used in a variety of applications including industrial automation, medical, robotics, textiles, renewable energy and more.
STEPPERONLINE provides rotary encoder and optical encoder.
When it comes to measuring a distance, it makes things very convenient by transforming the angular displacement and angular velocity of the output shaft into pulse signal and output it as digital signals. Very fairly, you can keep on counting the number of output pulse that says the total number of revolutions completed by the encoder shaft. This is cost-efficient, more durable and ensures high performance in contrast to other encoders.
It can be divided into incremental rotary encoders and absolute rotary encoders according to the different ways of engraving on the code disc. Below are some advantages of each to know.
The advantages of Incremental Rotary Encoder
Ensures simple and easy pulse counting without any stress and hurdles.
A Precise encoder for frequency monitoring and relevant applications.
The efficient encoder to install with direction, speed, and position monitoring devices.
In comparison to the absolute encoder, it is more cost-effective, durable and simple.
The Benefits of Absolute Rotary Encoder
Remembers the position or numerical value of an object even after power failure
Highly proficient in seamless monitoring of a position
Featured with enhanced functionalities of scaling, preset and speed
Optical encoder from STEPPERONLINE is a sensor which can transform displacement of the output shaft into pulse or digital signals by photoelectric conversion. It is mainly composed of a grating disk and a photoelectric detecting device. In a closed-loop system, the encoder is coaxial with the motor shaft, and they rotate with the same speed. It will give out several pulse signals after being detected by the detector consisting with luminous diodes and other electronic component. The rotating speed of the motor can be figured out by calculating the pulse quantities given out per second.
