FABTECH - DRS Introduces In-Line Robotic Laser Cutting System

Introduction at FabTech Show in Chicago, November 9-12, 2015

Auburn Hills, MI - Dynamic Robotic Solutions will introduce a new robot laser cutting system for hot stamp press lines at FabTech 2015. DRS will be showing a robot cutting cell and explaining the new Inline Laser Cutting (ILC) solution for hot stamping lines.

DRS has exclusively partnered with global press leader AP&T on the ILC and will be at their FabTech booth (S-4531). The ILC is a revolutionary product that uses modular cells containing dual FANUC robots with fiber lasers to perform the cutting and AP&T material handling to convey the parts directly from the hot stamp press. The entire system is "light tight" for safety and uses an overhead mezzanine for the control cabinets to reduce the system footprint. Optional "hybrid" modules allow the system to be loaded by operators when full laser cutting is not required by the press.

"Fabtech is the perfect place for us to show the significant advances weve made in robotic laser cutting of hot stamped parts" said DRS VP Sales & Marketing Michael Nardozzi. "This will provide a new option for hot stampers that today primarily use 5-axis CNC laser systems from such companies as Prima Power or Trumpf. The ILC will reduce the excess WIP required by those systems and the floorspace that current ‘islands of automation require while allowing quick delivery of the finished hot stamped parts. At the same time the ILC will maintain the flexibility to inject operator loaded parts to the in-line system to give the best of both worlds. We invite attendees to visit us in AP&Ts booth to see how DRS can revolutionize their metal stamping process."

The 40'x20' booth will have a live demo area featuring a robot provided by FANUC America.

3D Vision: Ensenso B now also available as a mono version!

This compact 3D camera series combines a very short working distance, a large field of view and a high depth of field - perfect for bin picking applications. With its ability to capture multiple objects over a large area, it can help robots empty containers more efficiently. Now available from IDS Imaging Development Systems. In the color version of the Ensenso B, the stereo system is equipped with two RGB image sensors. This saves additional sensors and reduces installation space and hardware costs. Now, you can also choose your model to be equipped with two 5 MP mono sensors, achieving impressively high spatial precision. With enhanced sharpness and accuracy, you can tackle applications where absolute precision is essential. The great strength of the Ensenso B lies in the very precise detection of objects at close range. It offers a wide field of view and an impressively high depth of field. This means that the area in which an object is in focus is unusually large. At a distance of 30 centimetres between the camera and the object, the Z-accuracy is approx. 0.1 millimetres. The maximum working distance is 2 meters. This 3D camera series complies with protection class IP65/67 and is ideal for use in industrial environments.
