Makeblock Raises More than $340K for Airblock Modular, Programmable, Indoor/Outdoor, Starter Drone
The First Drone Designed Specifically for Beginners, Enthusiasts and Students
SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 2, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Makeblock (Makeblock Co., Ltd), a leading DIY robotics construction platform, has raised more than $340K for Airblock Kickstarter campaign in less than two weeks, already attracting more than 2300 backers to the campaign.
Airblock is designed with STEM learning in mind and allows programming enthusiasts, beginners and students learn how to code with Makeblock's visual programming app. This simple and fun toy incorporates basic engineering, coding and physics skills -- getting you to see flight in a whole new way.
"We want to show everyone that coding can be fun and easy if you make it that way," says Jasen Wang, Founder and CEO of Makeblock. "In today's technology world, learning the basics of coding starts at a younger age and is building blocks for a brighter future. With Airblock, we are hoping to build it up as an expandable / upgradable platform to lower the barrier of building things by providing modular parts, electronic modules and software. People can just use these simple magnets to connect the parts, fly planes, DIY creative projects and go where their imagination takes them."
The Makeblock app for Airblock is designed to be the command station that brings imagination to flight. From the app, users can drag-and-drop blocks to create flight codes, then assign the code to a button. If users don't feel like coding, they can just command Airblock by using the joystick controls. The app is compatible with both Android and Apple/iOS devices.
Airblock is designed for ages 8 and up and made of magnetic modular parts that make it easy to assemble and dismantle. The free Makeblock App (for iOS & Android) allows users to easily program basic functions including rise and fall, advance and retreat and side to side flight. With visual programming integrated into the App, users can also perform advanced features like hover, somersault and explore more possibilities by creating other customizable projects.
Makeblock continues to establish its name in the STEM education field with more than 500 metal parts, electronic modules as well as software and over 20 robot kits to more than 140 countries around the world.
You can pre-order the Airblock programmable drone now on Kickstarter, starting at just $99.
