Universal Medical Systems, Inc. (UMS) the world's premier provider of veterinarian diagnostic imaging systems and the first company to offer robotic imaging to veterinary medicine is sponsoring the appearance of Millennia, the Robot With a Heart at their tradeshow booth # 941 for the American Association of Equine Practitioners 62nd Annual Convention from December 4-6, 2016 in Orlando, Florida.

Millennia will be exclusively seen at the UMS booth to provide photo opportunities plus information regarding the world of advanced imaging and the most recent robotic imaging system: EQUIMAGINEâ„¢, a fully robotic CT Technology to revolutionize whole-body scanning of standing and moving horses.
According to David Zavagno, President of UMS, "Robotics and world class imaging technologies for equine practitioners is the foundation of our large animal business. Millennia the robot, will help introduce doctors to Universal Medical System's state-of-the-art product portfolio."
EQUIMAGINE operates as an imaging workstation, which circles the animal with either 2 or 4 robotic extensions. The CT scan allows for a single, comprehensive and accurate model of the patient-specific imaging area to be evaluated. Veterinarians and surgeons can assess whole body scanning during load bearing, evaluation of the head, neck, or posture pathology. Real time high-speed soft tissue deformation tracking is also an added function. The increasing availability of this technology provides the practitioner with a modality that is extending musculoskeletal imaging from diagnosis to image-based real-time guidance of surgical procedures.
In addition to showcasing their robotic guest and EQUIMAGINE, UMS will also be giving demonstrations on BrainBios piPET scanner, a portable instrument with 2mm resolution and 22 cm bore diameter, weighing only 50 pounds. This system has been specifically designed for animal imaging targeting veterinary hospitals, research institutions, and biotechnology companies. Due to its small footprint, ruggedness, low power consumption, and environmental stability, piPET can be deployed in a wide variety of facilities. The unit can also be shared between several imaging centers.
piPET scanner is designed for both small and large animals with particular emphasis on lameness diagnosis in horses. UMS is the exclusive distributor of piPET for veterinary applications throughout the United States.
O•Scan Equine™ Limb MRI developed by Esaote will also be featured at the UMS booth. Onsite experts with additional information will be available to answer questions at the tradeshow.
Esaote is one of the worlds leading manufacturers of medical diagnostic systems. The company is internationally recognized as a world leader in extremity MRI. This O•Scan system provides superb, time-efficient diagnostic scanning of the equine foot, pastern, fetlock, high suspensory, carpus and tarsus regions of the equine limb.

Boston Dynamics Webinar - Why Humanoids Are the Future of Manufacturing

Join us November 18th for this Webinar as we reflect on what we've learned by observing factory floors, and why we've grown convinced that chasing generalization in manipulation—both in hardware and behavior—isn't just interesting, but necessary. We'll discuss AI research threads we're exploring at Boston Dynamics to push this mission forward, and highlight opportunities our field should collectively invest more in to turn the humanoid vision, and the reinvention of manufacturing, into a practical, economically viable product.
