Pre And Post Event Workshops And Training to be Offered At Commercial UAV Expo

Commercial UAV Expo, the leading event for professionals integrating or operating UAS in key vertical industries, will host full and part day in-depth seminars and trainings by leading organizations Airgon, Flyability, Microdrones, Pix4D, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and APSRS. High Accuracy Mapping with DJI Drones, presented by AirGon (GeoCue Group) will be held on Monday, October 1st at the Westgate Hotel from 7:30 am - 4:30 pm. This seminar will walk the user through the entire process of preparing for, collecting and processing data using DJI drones in conjunction with AirGons highly successful direct geopositioning system, Loki. Special guest speaker, Andrew Carey, Director of Drone Operations, Rio Tinto will provide an overview of how Rio Tinto, one of the worlds largest mining companies, uses drones in day to day operations. Getting Started with Indoor Drone Inspection, presented by Flyability will be held throughout the week of Commercial UAV Expo - from Monday, October 1st through Friday, October 5th. This one-day training will be led by Gregory Spirlet, Professional Services Engineer and Training Manager for Flyability who will teach the dynamics of Elios and how to perform an indoor inspection mission. Tools Not Toys - How to Achieve Professional Grade Surveying with Drones, presented by Microdrones will be held on Monday, October 1st. There will be three different sessions to help geomatics professionals make sense out of making drones a part of their work all taught by Dr. Mohamed M.R. Mostafa, Director, Microdrones. Pix4D Advanced User Workshop, presented by Pix4D Training Team will provide a deep dive into two overarching topics on Monday, October 1st from 8:30 am - 5:30 pm at the Westgate Hotel. Pix4D Technical Trainers Jeffrey Miller and Angad Singh will lead the sessions. The first will focus on best practices and troubleshooting methods for processing large datasets and the second session will focus on key aspects of the Pix4Dmapper workflow, such as editing the point cloud, understanding the "Processing Options," and the "Quality Report." SUAS Advanced Inspection Operations, presented by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University will take place on Monday, October 1st from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. This in-depth workshop will extend knowledge from beyond Part 107 qualifications to operational knowledge, skills, and abilities regarding sUAS utilization for inspections in construction, infrastructure, utilities, surveying and mapping. Details covered in this curriculum includes establishing workflows, safety program development and operation, flight operations considerations, and data handling. On Thursday, October 4th The American Society of Photogrammerty and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) will present their annual UAS Technical Symposium as a two-part, full-day program. Attendees can register for Part 1 only (8:00 am - 12:00 pm) encompassing concepts of precise geospatial positioning, accuracy assessment, image and lidar data processing that are the foundation for high-precision mapping with drones. Full-day registrants will return for Part 2 (1:15 pm - 5:30 pm) to cover sensor and system design, integration, calibration, and best practices for project design including start-to-finish workflow and product quality control.
