TraceParts adds the STEP AP242 modeling format to its CAD content library
The new STEP AP242 format has been added to the current TraceParts range, which already features over 60 native and neutral CAD formats
Saint-Romain, France, 24 October 2018 - TraceParts, a world-leading supplier of 3D digital content for engineering, consistently ensures that its CAD content platform embraces the latest technologies. The companys proactive development strategy means that TraceParts is one of the first CAD content platforms to offer the new STEP AP242 output format.
STEP AP242 - ISO 10303 is a standard that has been endorsed by the International Organization for Standardization. This neutral format represents an open 3D data model that can be used to exchange product data between design offices and production departments.
This format allows designers, engineers and specifically aerospace and automotive industry professionals to download and incorporate 3D models directly into their design projects in the neutral STEP AP242 format.
We believe that this format plays an important role in industry 4.0, because it contains much more than just geometric data. It includes information about the product lifecycle, manufacturing process, assembly and mounting constraints, among other things. It is a real asset for all those engineers and designers using our platform, as well as parts suppliers publishing their product catalogs with our solutions due to the fact that its native-like properties retains all the product-related information,
explains Bertrand Cressent, Product Manager at TraceParts.

How cameras deliver sharp images despite changing distances
IDS Imaging Development Systems offers a range of models, from a webcam-like camera in industrial quality to a tiny autofocus camera that weighs just12 grams. The 13 MP autofocus camera uEye XC closes the market gap between industrial cameras and webcams. Setting up and operating only requires a cable connection. After that, the autofocus camera immediately delivers high-resolution, detailed images and videos. With the optionally available, quickly exchangeable macro lens, users can easily shorten the minimum object distance of the camera. This makes it also suitable for close-up applications. Focus from a distance of just 10 cm. The uEye XS is even more compact and fits into almost any application with its size of just 26.4 x 23 x 21.7 mm. Thanks to its autofocus and 5 MP CMOS sensor, it delivers consistently sharp images and videos from a distance of just 10 cm. When it comes to image quality, natural color reproduction and harmonious contrast are also decisive factors. IDS has therefore equipped the uEye XS with many other practical automatic features familiar from consumer technology. This includes white balance, exposure and gain. As a result, it delivers the best possible result in every situation.
