GEP2000-B - optimized e-gripper variant for small parts handling

Models now available with free positioning capability and workpiece loss control

With the GEP2000 grippers, which were successfully launched on the market in 2017, the Zimmer Group launched an electrically driven small parts gripper series that was primarily designed for assembly tasks and the handling of small parts such as watch components or test tubes in laboratory automation. For these tasks, the series, which is available in four sizes, offers adjustable gripping forces between 80 and 500 Newton and jaw strokes between 6 and 16 mm. Recently, this proven series has been optimized with the conversion to -B and expanded to include the gripper variant -03.

Workpiece loss control and free positioning
Thus, in addition to the previous highlights of this series - the programmable 32 workpiece data sets, the part recognition (in the range of +/- 0.05mm) and the adjustable gripping force - two further important functions are added to the new GEP2000-B version. It now has free positioning capability, which allows the gripper to be pre-positioned. This allows the stroke to be flexibly adapted to the workpiece, which saves time in the process and prevents interfering contours. Another new feature is the workpiece loss control function. If a workpiece is lost due to external influences, the gripper now detects this and sends this information to the control system.
Ideal for use in the pharmaceutical & electronics industry
All grippers of the GEP2000 series are equipped with an integrated control and a mechanical self-locking device that prevents the loss of the workpiece in the event of a power failure and are available in three control variants: With IO-Link, with digital I/O and with digital I/O in combination with an analogue output for sensing the jaw positions. All GEP2000 grippers also have emergency unlocking and bidirectional data transmission as standard (IL version only). These above-mentioned features and a guaranteed 10 million cycles maintenance-free operation predestine the extremely flexible and fast GEP2000 grippers especially for use in the pharmaceutical, electronics and lightweight components sectors.

3D Vision: Ensenso B now also available as a mono version!

This compact 3D camera series combines a very short working distance, a large field of view and a high depth of field - perfect for bin picking applications. With its ability to capture multiple objects over a large area, it can help robots empty containers more efficiently. Now available from IDS Imaging Development Systems. In the color version of the Ensenso B, the stereo system is equipped with two RGB image sensors. This saves additional sensors and reduces installation space and hardware costs. Now, you can also choose your model to be equipped with two 5 MP mono sensors, achieving impressively high spatial precision. With enhanced sharpness and accuracy, you can tackle applications where absolute precision is essential. The great strength of the Ensenso B lies in the very precise detection of objects at close range. It offers a wide field of view and an impressively high depth of field. This means that the area in which an object is in focus is unusually large. At a distance of 30 centimetres between the camera and the object, the Z-accuracy is approx. 0.1 millimetres. The maximum working distance is 2 meters. This 3D camera series complies with protection class IP65/67 and is ideal for use in industrial environments.
