Matternet Partners with ANRA Technologies to Enhance UTM Services for Expanding Urban Drone Networks

Collaboration aims to support safe scaling of Matternet’s home delivery services with ANRA’s advanced airspace management and UTM solutions for BVLOS operations in shared airspace

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - November 12, 2024 - Matternet, a global leader in urban drone delivery, today announced a strategic partnership with ANRA Technologies, an industry leader in Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Traffic Management (UTM) solutions. This collaboration aims to support the safe and efficient scaling of Matternet's drone networks as the company accelerates its innovative home delivery services.

Following Matternet's recent launch of the first-ever drone delivery operation in Silicon Valley, this partnership will integrate ANRA's UTM capabilities with Matternet's Software Platform to ensure seamless airspace management of Matternet's fleet to conduct ultra-fast, zero-emission home deliveries. The home delivery service, which has already been piloted in Mountain View and Sunnyvale, California, demonstrates Matternet's focus on scaling drone delivery in urban and suburban areas across the U.S. and globally.

"With our home delivery service now live in Silicon Valley, our focus is on expanding our operations to serve more communities," said Andreas Raptopoulos, Founder and CEO of Matternet. "Working with ANRA Technologies provides us with additional UTM capabilities that will help us scale our delivery networks while maintaining the highest safety standards for Beyond Visual Line of Sight operations in shared airspace. This supports our vision of deploying Matternet's technology across every major urban and suburban area in the United States and Europe."

Through their partnership, the parties will focus on integrating advanced UTM solutions that support the management of Matternet drones and their flight paths for strategic deconfliction with other drones, reducing the risk of collision. Additionally, they will work toward the seamless integration of Matternet drones within a comprehensive UTM system. This will enable Matternet to scale its operations safely and efficiently, ensuring reliable integration into urban airspace while meeting regulatory standards.

Amit Ganjoo, CEO of ANRA Technologies, added, "We are excited to partner with Matternet to advance urban drone delivery. By integrating our airspace management solutions, we aim to facilitate safe and efficient airspace operations, allowing Matternet to expand their services while enabling interoperability with other users such as public safety agencies who want to fly in the same airspace."

This strategic initiative not only highlights Matternet's expansion into home delivery but reinforces its vision to create a connected, zero-emissions logistics ecosystem that reduces road congestion and improves urban air quality.

About Matternet
Matternet is the leading developer of commercial drone delivery systems for urban and suburban environments. The company builds the Matternet M2 drone and Matternet Software Platform and operates its technology directly for customers or in partnership with logistics organizations, such as UPS. Matternet has achieved many industry firsts, including being the first company to be authorized for commercial Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) drone delivery operations over cities in Switzerland, the first to launch routine revenue-generating operations in the U.S., and the first to achieve standard Type Certification and Production Certification by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration. Matternet is partnered with UPS and Ameriflight, who have received approval from the Federal Aviation Administration to operate the Matternet M2 under Part 135. Matternet launched the world's first humanitarian drone delivery missions in 2014, the first B2B healthcare operations in Europe in 2017 and in the US in 2019, and the first drone delivery operations in Silicon Valley in 2024. To date, Matternet technology has enabled tens of thousands of commercial flights over dense urban and suburban environments in the U.S. and Europe.

3D Vision: Ensenso B now also available as a mono version!

This compact 3D camera series combines a very short working distance, a large field of view and a high depth of field - perfect for bin picking applications. With its ability to capture multiple objects over a large area, it can help robots empty containers more efficiently. Now available from IDS Imaging Development Systems. In the color version of the Ensenso B, the stereo system is equipped with two RGB image sensors. This saves additional sensors and reduces installation space and hardware costs. Now, you can also choose your model to be equipped with two 5 MP mono sensors, achieving impressively high spatial precision. With enhanced sharpness and accuracy, you can tackle applications where absolute precision is essential. The great strength of the Ensenso B lies in the very precise detection of objects at close range. It offers a wide field of view and an impressively high depth of field. This means that the area in which an object is in focus is unusually large. At a distance of 30 centimetres between the camera and the object, the Z-accuracy is approx. 0.1 millimetres. The maximum working distance is 2 meters. This 3D camera series complies with protection class IP65/67 and is ideal for use in industrial environments.
