Advantech and BOW Unveil New Partnership at Robotics & Automation 2025 to Streamline Robotics Integration
• Advantech will integrate robotic arm and autonomous mobile robot (AMR) hardware using BOW’s universal software development platform • Advantech and BOW’s integrated devices provide a plug-and-play solution for robotics OEMs, developers and end-users, reducing development complexity, cost, and time-to-market • Advantech and BOW will be demonstrating a BOW-integrated Sarcomere Dynamics hand and Universal Robots arm at Robotics & Automation, stand #932
BOW, the universal robotics software company, has partnered with Advantech, a global leader in industrial IoT and embedded computing, to streamline product innovation and deployment for robotics OEMs, developers, and end-users. Showcased for the first time at the Robotics & Automation 2025 event in Birmingham's National Exhibition Centre (NEC), this partnership enhances the integration of Advantech's hardware with BOW's universal robotics software platform across a range of dedicated robotics products and custom solutions.
This announcement by BOW follows its recent £4 million seed funding round, and the appointment of Liz Upton, co-founder of Raspberry Pi, as chair of the BOW board.
The robotics sector is forecast to reach $260 billion by 2030 and is experiencing a surge in demand for smarter, faster automation. However, developers face significant interoperability and programming challenges, compounded by a shortage of specialised roboticist developers.
The BOW platform and its robot-agnostic software development kit (SDK) solves this industry bottleneck, making it possible for the first time to program different robots using the operating system and programming language of choice. With BOW, for the first time, developers can rapidly create and deploy robotics applications, easily port applications between different makes of robots and control robot fleets, removing the need for highly specialised robotics programmers and reducing both cost and time to deployment.
The partnership between Advantech and BOW is a move towards lowering the barriers to adoption of robotics devices and accelerating innovation in this rapidly expanding market. Key use cases for BOW and Advantech integrated robotics include manufacturing, machine automation, telemedicine and AgriTech.
At Robotics & Automation 2025, Advantech and BOW will showcase:
• Live robotics demonstration developed by BOW, featuring a UR5 arm and Sarcomere Dynamic Artus Lite hands, powered by an Advantech AFE-R770
• Interactive presentations detailing the benefits of software-integrated robotics hardware for OEMs and end users
• Insights from both companies on the future of robotics, AI, and automation
Reinier Middel, Senior Sales Director Embedded IoT of Advantech said: "Our partnership with BOW combines our world-leading robot arms AMRs Controllers with BOW's universal software platform to enable Robot Manufacturers, developers and end-users to simplify the deployment of robotics applications and accelerate innovation. We're excited to showcase how together we are making robotics more accessible and applicable across a wide range of industries."
Nick Thompson, CEO of BOW said: "We are delighted to partner with Advantech so that OEMs, developers, and end-users have access to the best integrated robotics hardware and software on the market, under one centralised, easy-to-use, operating system. BOW's universal SDKs are supporting industry innovation at scale, accelerating the integration of robotics and AI to help the world realise robotics' full potential."
Attendees at Robotics & Automation 2025 are invited to visit the Advantech stand, located at #932, for more information on their partnership and industry use-cases.
